Following the final weeks of excitement, hourly calls and frenzy to launch, its eerily quiet, hopefully at least a monthly review to talk about ‘something’ (often SEO data / rankings….).
Websites are launched, ahead of this some are checked with some technical, diagnostic tools. The website is then handed over to the client, sometimes the agency has a retainer – a level of oversight, but this is limited due to available skills, client funding and disproportionality expensive diagnostic and free tools the agency my have.
Alternatively, client takes over the website, perhaps with the introduction of a ‘tool’ that offers reactive automated testing, diagnostics (SiteImprove, Sitemorse, Monsido etc).
…..what can be worse, is if is the agency that makes the introduction to the tool… WHY? The agency introduces ‘a partner’ to deal with their client, to tell their client about website issues and often compete to deliver the correction work.
These tools, are in most cases at the heart of the issue – pages of technical detail. Running every week on everything often highlighting key issues, their sporadic usage resulting in today's websites undermining value and creating unnecessary risk.
